It's time for the 2nd installment in the One T-shirt, Three DIYs miniseries!
In case you missed it, the first project in the series was a hand stamped t-shirt headband that I've been wearing pretty much all the time since I made it.
This second project is a crop top tank top that's perfect for wearing at the beach when you start to get a little crispy and want to cover up your shoulders. I wore it when I went stand up paddle boarding (my new favorite activity!) in California last week.
Materials:
- The same old t-shirt we used for the first part of the series.
- Scissors
Directions:
**Note: If you participated in part 1 of the miniseries, skip steps 1 and 2 and jump in at step 3.
1. Find an old t-shirt that you still like but don't mind cutting up. (I chose an old Make a Wish shirt because it's an awesome organization and I would happily wear their logo any day of the week.)
2. If you would like to participate in all three sections of the One T-Shirt, Three DIYs, cut the bottom hem off of the t-shirt, then cut off another 2 or 3 inches from the bottom of the shirt. The bottom hem is for the third project in the series, and the 2 or 3-inch-wide strip is for the first project. We'll be using the top part of the shirt for today's crop top project.
3. Put away the bottom pieces of the t-shirt; it's time to focus on the top part of the shirt. First, cut off the neckline of the t-shirt, then cut off the sleeves. As you cut off the sleeves, bring your cut down 2 or 3 inches below the spot where the sleeves ended. This will create a wide armhole that your swimsuit can show through on the beach!
That's it! Throw on your new crop top and go enjoy the sunshine.
On a side note, have you ever gone stand up paddle boarding? It's so fun and not hard at all! My mom and I even brought our coffee on our boards with us. We're clearly extremely hardcore.
Enjoy this beautiful July weather!
xoxo
Laura
