Now that the weather has warmed up and I'm finally finishing my last cold weather knitting project (more on that in an upcoming post), I've been developing a lot of crushes on warm weather knitting patterns that I can't wait to buy and try.
Move aside chunky wool; I want to be elbow deep in cotton and linen and bamboo asap!
So here's a list of my top 5 picks so far.
1. Agyness Top from Wool and the Gang.
Like most of Wool and the Gang's designs, this pattern comes in a knit kit along with their Shiny Happy Cotton yarn and optional needles. I would absolutely love to whip this up in their "coral crush" color and wear it over a bikini top at the beach this summer.
2. Ferrous by Grace Anna Farrow on Brooklyn Tweed
In the pattern notes, Farrow recommends using fingering weight wool for this shawl, but I would love to knit this in linen to make a light and airy cover-up for chilly summer nights.
How cute is this skirt?! It's inspired by Zooey Deschanel's character on The New Girl, and I love everything she wears on that show. Oh, and Zooey Deschanel also happens to have celiac disease like me, so we're basically best friends. Anyway, this skirt is adorable and would look great with or without tights underneath it.
4. Beate by Sanne Bjerregaard
I don't know about you guys, but I love following Scandinavian knitters (like panda_mr, helusahu, and knitsandpieces) on Instagram. They all have this beautiful other-worldly aesthetic that I simply can't get enough of. Available in both English and Danish, the Beate top has just the right amount of Scandinavian flare.
Confession: I've already cast on this project even though I'm supposed to be focusing on the aforementioned cold weather project... oops. I just couldn't help myself. This will be so perfect to wear for skating. I have no words.
So those are my top 5 favorites as of right now. Ask me next week and I may be eyeing five more. Digging through patterns on Ravelry and daydreaming about future knitting projects is almost as fun as actually sitting down and knitting something tangible. Don't you agree?

Beautiful choices. My favorite is the skirt. I've never knit a skirt but it's definitely on my list. So true about how browsing through patterns can often be as fun as knitting them up. No tricky bits, or uncertainty if you're doing it right while browsing.
ReplyDeleteI would also love to be elbow deep in bamboo. Also, can you introduce me to Zooey? K, thanks.
ReplyDeletewhat lovely choices. I too dig through patterns on Ravelry (when I really should be knitting) :)
